New Lap Record in Mexico City
Antonio Félix da Costa (BMW and Andretti Motorsport) leads the standings here in Mexico after setting a new lap record of 58,963 km around the 2,093-kilometer Hermanos Rodríguez Autódromo track. The Portuguese was followed by Felipe Massa de Venturi in second place and Sebastien Buemi (Nissan e.dams), the third fastest. Both Venturi cars ranked second in training in the morning.
Less than ten minutes after the session, Oliver Turvey of the NIO Formula E team cut the chicane at turn 15, broke the front axle and sent it back to the garage. Last season, Turvey started the race at Pole before finishing second overall.
